Biography: Emily Crellin along with her sister Eleanor were among those women from the Isle of Man who volunteered for military service in the First World War. There was massive expansion of womens' services during the war, and women undertook work such as driving and maintaining motor vehicles which had previously been the preserve of men. Emily joined the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps. (Image ref: PG/13746/7).
