Biography: William Clague was born in Castletown, and was a plumber by trade. For two years before the First World War he had lived in Glasgow with his widowed mother, and upon the outbreak of the First World War he enlisted in the 16th battalion Royal Scots. He was killed in action on Easter Monday, 9 April 1917, the opening day of the Battle of Arras, and is buried in St Catherine British Cemetery, on the outskirts of Arras. (Image ref: PG/13743/33).
