Biography: Henry Lawson from Castletown was a blacksmith by trade. He emigrated to Canada around 1910, and enlisted in the Canadian army upon the outbreak of war. He rose to the rank of Quarter Master Sergeant with the 44th battalion Canadian Infantry, and was badly wounded in August 1918 during the final offensive of the war. He was taken to hospital where his leg and several fingers were amputated, but he died of his wounds on 23 August. He is buried in Villers Bretonneux British Cemetery. (Image ref: PG/13743/62).
