Biography: Son of John Kinley and father of Captain George Redvers Kinley, b.1900 and of John Kinley, 1902 - 1955.
Curator of Open Air Museum, Cregneish, Isle of Man. Spent early years c. 1880-85 with Port St. Mary fishing fleet. Subsequently a member of the Isle of Man Constabulary. Went to South Africa and worked 1890 - 1893 in the gold mines of the Transvaal. Later returned to the Port St. Mary fishing fleet and commanded lugger 'Confidence'.
c.1900 engaged on coastal trade in the Irsh Sea and round coast of Ireland mainly with Thos. Wilsom and Co. Whiteheaven the Whiteheaven Steamship Co. For many years c.1905-1930 Master of Steamships 'Wilson' and 'Lonsdale' belonging to above company. Traded between Whiteheaven and Peel for most of WW1. Retired 1930. Contributed to Manx Folk Life Survey.
