Biography: Thomas Lace from Castletown was serving in France with the 2nd battalion Cheshire Regiment, when he was killed in action on 3 October 1915. This was in the closing stages of the Battle of Loos, an Anglo-French offensive fought in the coal mining district of northern France. Thomas Lace was 29 when he died, and has no known grave. He is remembered on the Loos memorial to the missing. (Image ref: PG/13743/44).
