Biography: Josiah Harrison, a former soldier in the Royal Artillery, enlisted in the Manchester Regiment at Ardwick in July 1915, aged 48. He was soon posted to the Royal Defence Corps, which provided guards for prisoner of war camps. He was subsequently posted to the Isle of Man, to serve as a guard at Knockaloe Camp, where he remained until demobilization. After the war he chose not to return home to Manchester but instead remained on the Isle of Man, living on Peel Road in Douglas. (Image ref: PG/7783).
