Transferred from Douglas Camp to Wakefield 19.2.1918 on instructions received on a telegram from Government Office. - Name on a list "Prisoners of War who are not to be released at the expiration of the war, but are to be deported." Received at Douglas Camp 20.2.1918 sent back by Liverpool Police. Transferred from Douglas Camp to Spalding, en route for Holland 9.3.1918. - Douglas Camp Internee no. 4072 15.11.1915 & the no. 5289 20.2.1918. No. 5225 from Anglo-German lists. Ref. 1776/015. Hugo von Grundherr was an art dealer who was living in Chichester at the time of the outbreak of the First World War. He married Ida Margaret Hughes in 1908 at Erdington, Birmingham. They moved briefly back to Germany where one of their children was born, before returning to the UK. His wife divorced him following his arrest and internment. He appears in Frederick Dunbar's book 'Die Manner Insel' as 'Herr von Beyerheim' who shares a chalet with the author in Douglas Camp. [MR]
