Scope & Content: The title written in pencil on the back of the photograph is ‘the oldest house in Ballasalla’. The photograph shows the property of John Quaggin on the left. It is believed to have at one time been The Red Lion Hotel and was demolished, after being boarded up for many years, around 1930. Mr Tyson of Ballasalla was quoted as saying ‘We used to hold the anniversaries in the field this side of the gable. The place was grown over with ivy and some of the windows boarded over'
