Scope & Content: Contents comprise diaries, correspondence, research notes on assorted topics, self-penned poetry, artwork, biographical notes about Thomas Arthur Corlett; also illustrated memoirs entitled 'What's in a Name'; extracts from RN diaries; five Illustrated journals, 1982-1987 containing memoirs of earlier experiences; testimonials and certificate of Royal Navy service, 1926-1938; poem 'The Good Companions', correspondence with the BBC regarding the recording of his talk 'A Warning to Antique Orange Owners',1958.

Research notes or collated papers and illustrations are present for topics such as the Manx Salt and Alkali Co. Ltd and the foundry of John Clague and Son Ltd, Ramsey; also assorted documents about Ballacorey Brickworks and Ramsey breweries,

Correspondence includes greeting cards from Sally and Anders Jespersen; ephemera includes Castletown Ales passport and other brewery promotional material including certificate awarded for visiting 20 hostelries in summer 1980, the Bi-Centenary of Castletown Ales;

Administration / Biographical History: Ernest V Adames was born at Shoreham, Sussex in 1905 and celebrated his 100th birthday on 5 May 2005. He was visited on that day by Lt Governor Air Marshal Ian Macfadyen and Mrs Macfadyen at his Grove Mount Residential Home. He entered the Royal Navy in 1926, signing up for 12 years' service. Adames died in early 2006.
