Scope & Content: The glass plate is marked 3043 Mr White which corresponds to 3043 John White in the Douglas Camp daybook.

He appears on the ICRC website as Emil John White with Red Cross Information bureau number 24691. He appears first on a list of prisoners in December 1914. His home address was shown as St Blazey, Cornwall. Born: Stettin. Shown at Douglas Camp.

He appears on the 1911 census as John White, born Hanburg [sic] Germany. Occupation: Dock labourer, living at Bridge Court, St Blazey, Cornwall with a British born wife and two children. (www.ancestry.co.uk - a user has annotated the record with his true name which appears to have been Emil John (Jack) Weiss). He appears on the 1921 Census as Emile J. White living at St Blazey.
