First World War internee John Paintner, Knockaloe Camp, Isle of Man

Scope & Content: The identification of John Paintner is based upon the prisoner number 19231 which appears on the glass plate, and comparison with the repatriation and hospital lists which appear on the ICRC website. His Red Cross information bureau number was 16532. He appears on a November 1914 list of prisoners as John Painter [sic] though Red Cross number is the same. Details given there: age 25 - home address: 128 Whitley road, Eastbourne, Sussex. Born Siegensdorf b/Munchen. In a list of 28/8/15 it is noted that he was one of those interned at the outbreak of war, released, and then subsequently re-interned.
