Report on the Old House of Keys

Scope & Content: Report prepared by member of the Manx National Heritage Library and Archives drawing together research in preparation for redevelopment of the Old House of Keys, Castletown by MNH. It draws upon a variety of documentary and printed sources and the results of site investigations. The author states in his foreword that no original plans, specifications or construction details have been located or are known to survive for the building. He states that a 'Design for a House of Keys' by Thomas Brine, dated 16 April 1817 is preserved at The National Archives, Kew (ref TNA HO/68/98); this design while never executed shows some similarities to the 1821 building.
