Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Own plate, 1898. When Old St Matthew's was demolished, there was an agitation to preserve the tower. This was left standing for a short time, when the movers in the project had to admit that it would have to go, as, for one thing the W end of the church was its principal support. Env IV, 15'.
