Scope & Content: Track 1: Alfred ('Alf') Duggan talks to John Beckerson about about his experiences in the taxi and car hire trade in the Isle of Man, 1936-1980. Alf talks about his car; Mike Breadner’s place on the Promenade; Rushen Abbey and coaches and taxis parked there; the cost of hiring a vehicle; the numerous taxi stands on Queen’s Promenade and Bottleneck taxi stand; the favourite shows and visitor attractions; visits of Tessie O’Shea and Florrie Ford; the horse trams; the number of boats coming into the Isle of Man.

Track 2: Alf talks about hotels including The Hydro; Tommy Spann and Freddie Dixon, riders in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races; driving other TT riders including Freddie Dixon in a seven seater; going to the UK for winter work to drive buses in Coventry, Birmingham and Chester; four ferry boats with a singer, Lily and ukulele player Jimmy Ventry carrying passengers from the Albert Pier to Battery Pier; Albert Gribbon and Albert Dodds who repaired the boats; driving famous people like Tom Jones and Ken Dodd, The Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five; working as a funeral director. He ends by describing the busy quay in Douglas.
