Scope & Content: Mrs Megan Creer talks to John Beckerson about owning and running the boarding house Ash House.

Track 1: She talks about the decision to buy a boarding house and the work needed to get it ready for guests, including putting washbasins into the bedrooms; her first visitors coming for the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races in 1954; advertising the boarding house; working as a tailoress; cost of full board; house improvements; reason to stop running the boarding house after 18 years; sale of house; guest and where they came from; Boarding House Keeperโ€™s Association; sons sleeping in the cellar to make room for guests; paperwork and bills; cooking and cleaning; daily routine; making mattress covers and pillows to save money.
