Scope & Content: Brian Jarvis and Mrs Audrey Jarvis talk to John Beckerson about their holidays at Waldick Hotel, Marine Parade, Peel in 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1981. Brian talks about his earliest memories of visiting the Isle of Man in the early 1960s with a girlfriend who was related to Ralph and Muffet of the Waldick Hotel; the hotel; ‘Walter’, the landlord of a local pub; flying to the island from Heathrow; story about driving around an empty kipper factory in Peel in a hire car; differences between the Isle of Man and London; anecdote about a defective aeroplane making a flight from Ronaldsway; holidaying in England in the 1960s; his first holiday abroad to the south of France in 1969; first impressions of the Isle of Man; favourite things about Peel; hotels used to house Second World War internees; anecdote about Ralph wallpapering; morality of the time; the routine and food at the guest house.
Audrey talks about her visits to the island with her children and parents; visiting the Peel City Guardian Printing Works run by Mr Palmer; impression of the island compared to the UK; days out with the children.
Brian talks about panoramic photograph of Peel donated to the Museum; Laxey Wheel photography project when the Wheel was not working; visit to the Museum to photograph a cup presented to the mine owner; interviewer mentions that the underground level plans for the mine are at the Museum; Brian recalls a sailing holiday in Peel with his brother; the hotel; Audrey recalls her last visit to the island in the 1970s; trips on the steam railway; Brian says that his former girlfriend Jennifer Hardman (or Smith) lives on the island.
