Scope & Content: A view from the Grandstand at the start of an Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) race. Note the absence of Douglas Crematorium, which was not opened until 1960. In the background can be seen Elmwood House.

This image was taken by the Venerable Ernest Henry Stenning. Ordained in 1911, he taught at King Williams College, where he was also school chaplain and Vice-Principal. He had a great interest in motorcycling, was a TT and Manx Grand Prix steward and founder member and president of the Manx Motorcycle Club. He was also a keen photographer. The Duke of Edinburgh called him 'The Motorcycling Dean'.
