First World War internees in front of the wire, Douglas Camp, Isle of Man

Scope & Content: Placard reads, 'Kriegsgefangene, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1914-19?' with Manx cat and three legs symbol. Five of the men are clearly sailors, and wear what appear to be Kriegsmarine Imperial German Navy tops. These are probably prisoners from one of the German battleships sunk in 1914, the crews of which are known to have been sent to Isle of Man camps.
Glass plate named 'Mr Gerbig 353' which corresponds to 353 Martin Gerbig in the Douglas Camp Daybook. There is apparently only one man of this name on the ICRC database: Martin Gerbig Gunner Feld-Art Regiment 25 Landwehr. Living at 20 Grove Park, Rathmines, Ireland when interned. Home town Darmstadt.
