Administration / Biographical History: Aerial photos of a fly over of Douglas promenade at some time during the 1970s, photographer unknown and donor unknown.
39 prints of fly over photographs of Douglas promenade taken after the construction of The Sea Terminal (1965), during early construction of Summerland at Darby Castle and are prior to the demolishion of the Place ballroom. The photographs were taken during either TT week or MGP as the camp site at the Grandstand can be seen in the background of a number of photos. There are also clear views of the Falcon Cliff Hotel lift, along with a large house with expansive gardens opposite the Falcon Cliff Hotel (AR32) prior to the housing and flat development being built. There is also a large terrace of shops at the bottom of Broadway (AR21) and many other buildings which have now been demolished or significantly altered.
It is unclear how these photographs came into the possession of the Centre.
