Scope & Content: Track 1: Linda Magee, staff member of Manx National Heritage, talks about her following, as a fan, the Manx Grand Prix (MGP) and the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races. She talks mainly about the TT including Joey Dunlop; socialising at the Grandstand; watching the practices and races; helicopter rides; friendly atmosphere of the TT; bikers and the different visiting nationalities; biker road accidents; Bushy’s pub; Manx police; lack of hotels, boarding houses and boats; dress code in the nightclubs; TT as boost to tourism; anti-climax at end of TT fortnight; Jackson family being racers; Steve Hislop; Carl Fogarty; Steam Packet boat bookings; fatal road accidents.
Track 2: Paul Hughes, full time barman at Bushy’s, talks about the nationalities of customers and unfamiliarity with money; friendliness of customers and lack of trouble; cellar being small for stock required for TT fortnight; bars open and staff; nightly antics during TT; leniency of police; opening and closing times; and the end of TT party for the bar staff.
Steve Gibbons, assistant manager at Bushy's, talks about water pistols, donuts and wheelies; crowd numbers; snuff taking; making of ‘Midnight Beer’; and bikers arriving without accommodation and having to be hosted at Douglas Sea Terminal.
