Scope & Content: Recording of a coach driver describing the routes of ‘An Island Tour’ with points of interest and history. The tour starts at 2.15pm and returns at 5pm.

The tour starts from the Sea Terminal, Douglas and mentions the Douglas Corporation Electric Power Station; Quarterbridge; Pulrose housing estate; the municipal golf course; TV booster station for the BBC. The tour then visits and mentions Cooil village; the central mountain range; Snaefell; the Manx Electric Tram; Greeba central valley and railway line; the Plains of Heaven; East Foxdale; Eary Dam; Foxdale; Shoulder Road; South Barrule; Cronk ny Arrey Laa; the Round Table; views of the Mountains of Mourne, Northern Ireland, Mull of Galloway, Scotland and the Point of Ayre; view of the Calf of Man, Milner’s Tower, Bradda Head and Niarbyl Bay; Dalby village; Glen Maye; Patrick village; Knockaloe; three legs of Man in different coloured grass in the field; Peel Hill and Corrin's Tower; St John's Tynwald Hill; Ballacraine; Greeba Castle; Crosby village; Union Mills and the Mannin Infirmary; Braddan church; Quarterbridge; Douglas Promenade.

There is then a short tour of Douglas after attending an open air service at Braddan church via Quarterbridge road; Bray Hill with the Boys High School and St Ninian's church; Nobles Park; Manx cats cattery; start and finish of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races on Glencrutchery Road; Governor’s residence; Victoria Road; Summerhill Glen; Douglas Holiday Camp, at one time called Cunningham’s Camp; the prison; Victoria Crescent council houses; children’s playground; St John’s Ambulance headquarters; Woodbourne Road; Masonic Temple; Rosemount church; stork on the maternity home; Nobles hospital and nurses quarters; Hillside Avenue and Nobles hall, now the labour exchange; Prospect Hill and St Mary’s Catholic church; House of Keys; Athol Street lawyers offices; Town Hall; Victoria Street and church; shopping streets; Jubilee clock; Loch Promenade and the four Promenades; Tower of Refuge; War Memorial; Villa Marina; and Broadway.

Administration / Biographical History: Worked for Esplanade Motors 1922-1965 and then part time with Shimmin's part time to 1970/1.
