Scope & Content: Charles Kelly talks about going to watch silent films and Saturday afternoon film matinees in 1915,1916; cinemas The Strand, The Picture House, The Pier Pavilion; Quinney’s cart of oranges; silent films; Mr Jordan; roof sliding open; film stars Bill Cody, Tom Mix, Lewis Stone and Pearl White. Charles sings a song about Pearl White and he talks about the cost of going to the cinema; selling papers for admission. He ends by singing a song, contemporary with the First World War, about Charlie Chaplin.
