Chapter 5 concerns the oral tradition while chapter 6 assesses the 'Manxness' of Manx music. Appendices include analyses of various music manuscripts and lists of hymn tunes and anthems found in manuscripts and printed sources in the Isle of Man, c.1810-1860 including Dr Clague's and W F Gill's notebooks.
