First World War internee Janos Szakacs in front of an internment hut, Knockaloe Camp, Isle of Man

Scope & Content: The identification as Janos Szakacs is derived from the prisoner number 19842 which appears on the glass plate, and comparison with the repatriation and hospital lists which appear on the ICRC website. His Red Cross information bureau number was 47614A. He first appears on a list dated 23/10/15. Home address: not shown. Born: Nagy Sitke, Hungary. Age: 28.

He is also listed as an exhibitor in 'Camp IV Grosse Kunstgewerbe Austellung 27 Marz bis 2 April 1916' where his name and number appear in the section Sonstige Arbeiten. His work is titled Geknuepfte Handtasche. There is a sight discrepancy in the spelling of his name which appears here as Szakars Janos.
