Scope & Content: On the original glass plate the number 4270 and name Kleckel are visible. This corresponds to Freiderich Kleckel in the Douglas Camp daybook. Kleckel appears in the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) list of Civilian Internees D79. Red Cross information bureau number 50388. Full name Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander Kleckel. His age is given as 39, held at Douglas, home address 5 Moorfield Place, Hereford. Place of birth is given as Birmingham, which suggests that he was born in Britain of German parents. This is confirmed by the UK Civil Registration index which lists him as born 1875, birth registered West Bromwich. His application for release in 1916 is held by TNA in FO 383/144. He does not appear on the 1921 census. There is a record of his burial in the parish of Lichtental, Hesse. Died 10 June 1943 (www.ancestry.co.uk).
