Scope & Content: This vessel famously rammed a U-boat in the English Channel whilst on troopship duties, and there is possibly collision damage visible in this photograph on the side of the hull between the first mast and the first funnel.

'On the night of 16 February 1917, whilst under the command of Captain William Cain, Mona's Queen rammed the mine-laying U-Boat SM UC-26, which had unsuccessfully tried to torpedo the Mona's Queen.' (Comment on imuseum.im by Paul Quine, 29 June 2020.)
