Homecomers at Castletown, Address of Welcome

Scope & Content: Mr Qualtrough, chairman of Castletown Commissioners, gives the 1952 welcome address to the Manx Homecomers at Castletown. He apologises for the cold weather and hopes the warmth of welcome from Castletonians compensates for this. He talks about Mr Cain, president of the North American Manx Association and his deputy Mr Howell; Castletown and Castle Rushen; the Nautical Museum and the yacht 'Peggy'; itinerary, including visits to Fort Island, King William’s College and Ballasalla.
Mr Howell replies by thanking the Isle of Man and relays a story after meeting members of the legislature in Douglas.
Castle Rushen school choir, conducted by Mr Pickard, sings 'Graih My Chree' and other songs.
Mr Qualtrough thanks everyone at the end of concert and jokingly mentions Mr Corlett, Chief of Police showing them the Castletown Police Station.
