Opening of the new lych gate, Rushen parish church

Scope & Content: The unveiling and dedication of the new lych gate took place on 21 April 1921. Present were Lord Bishop Denton Thompson, Lieutenant Governor Major-General Sir William Fry, Canon C.H. Leece (vicar of Rushen parish church) and Reverend W.R. Cannell (curate of Rushen parish church).

Work on the lych gate was undertaken by Mr T.H. Royston, Douglas. The woodwork (using Manx grown oak) was by Mr H. Moore, Port St Mary. Stone work was by Mr Jos. Hudgeon, Gansey. The coping of Barrule slates, the eaves, spouts etc., was by Mr Gawne, plumber, Port St Mary.

The total cost of the memorial tablet and lych gate was £333 7s 2p.
