Scope & Content: Illustrated PhD thesis submitted to the University of Liverpool. The author evaluates the polished stone axe-heads acquired by the Manx Museum since 1922 in an attempt to understand more about the island during later prehistory. She discusses the procurement, manufacture and disposal of the axe-heads, their morphological features, form and function, axe-head petrology, range of source rocks and proposed local provenances. Contemporaneous collections elsewhere are noted abd cursory comparisons made.
