Scope & Content: Sunset over Peel Castle with fishing boats in the harbour. A glimpse of Maughold Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse was completed in 1914. Douglas Promenade at night with the fountains in the Marina Garden's and the Villa Marina adorned with neon lights. Injebreck reservoir, Malew church, St Jude's, Jurby church, the open air service field at Braddan, and Castle Rushen.
This film can be dated as after 1951 due to a poster advertising the 'Royal Manx Agricultural Society's Annual Show' held at the Nunnery Park in Douglas. The Society changed it's name to the 'Royal Manx Agricultural Society' from the 'Isle of Man Agricultural Society' after the approval of George VI in 1951. Year is possibly 1959 as the flyer for the agricultural show is Thursday 6th August at The Nunnery. The Douglas show moved to George V park in 1961. 6th August is a Thursday in 1953 and 1959. Dress and vehicles look to be late 1950s and absence of any Coronation celebrations, union flags etc make it less likely to be 1953.
