Scope & Content: A memorial tablet, with cannons resting either side, at the entrance to Bishopscourt Glen.

The inscription on the tablet reads: ‘This mound was formed into its present shape and called Mount Aeolus by Bishop Hyldesley to commemorate the victory of the English over the French fleet under Thurot off this coast Feb 28th 1760. The bowspit of the ship Belle Isle was originally placed on this spot - but two cannons are all that remains as trophies of the victory.'
