Cottier window at Lezayre church

Scope & Content: On the back of the photograph is the note: 'Window in Kirk Christ Lezayre made by Daniel Cottier (1838-1891). An inscription reads:- "This window was erected by Daniel Cottier, Glass Painter, in the year 1884, to the memory of his Grandfather Daniel Cottier, who died in 1803; and also to the memory of his Father Daniel Cottier who died in 1843".
Also, '"the family of Cottier hails from 'Nerindale' (Narradale) and Kerromoar in the Abbey Lands of Kirk Christ Lezayre. There are records of their holding Nerindale in monastery times as far back as 1541. Gilberto MacOtter (Cottier) was tenant of the Abbey, in 1660 the same land was held by John Cottier, and in 1703 by William Cottier, so that there is a continuous line recorded for 350 years".
