Notes: Report by R. Egerton Purves C. I. E. late Chief Engineer, Irrigation Works, Punjab was taken to the Curraghs by Mr Kay of the Highway Board, at the express invitation of Lieutenant-Governor Raglan to report on the draining of the Curraghs. Reclamation of swamp lands necessitate the drainage of surface water and also the subsoil water table should be lowered. Rapid and complete recovery of land which has long been soured from swamp requires special treatment in addition to drainage. An expert agricultural chemist would be able to suggest the correct treatment of such land. In Bound Volume of Government Reports Vol. 12 1916 - 1919.
