Robert E. Quine
Epithet: Soldier in the Labour Corps
Record type: First World War Biographies
Town / Village residence: Castletown
Biography: Robert Ernest Quine of Castletown was serving in France with the Labour Corps, when he was killed in action aged 41 in March 1918. He was attached to an Ordnance Park and his normal duties would probably have involved loading and unloading artillery ammunition from trains and lorries. However, with the German breakthrough on the Somme in the spring of 1918 it is possible that he was placed in the front line, along with any other reserve troops which were available. He is buried at St Pierre Cemetery, Amiens. (Image ref: PG/13743/8).
