Biography: Edwin Alexander Shepherd was the son of Reverend E.T.Shepherd of Castletown. He was educated at King William's College and before the First World War was employed by the Refuge Assurance Company. He joined the army in May 1915, and was later commissioned into the Machine Gun Corps. He went to France in November 1916, and was killed in action in April 1918, during the German offensive on the Lys. He is buried in Chocques Military Cemetery, near Bethune. (Image ref: PG/13743/41).
