Biography: Age 35, Vernon Walter Cottle is an electrician and comes from Hambrook, Bristol. He first rode in the T.T. in 1958 but he has been racing for some years and in 1954 won the Clubman's race at Silverstone on a 998 c.c. Vincent. He has also ridden twice in she Ulster Grand Prix and has finished 27th in the Junior and 16th in the Senior.
His machine for the 1958 Junior T.T. was the A.J.S. which John Hartle rode into third place of the 1954 Manx Grand Prix, whilst his Norton was placed 14th in the 1956 senior Manx. He finished in both 1958 Junior and Senior T.T. races -- 50th in the Junior (Finishers' Award) and 33rd in the Senior (Bronze Replica). In 1959 he was ninth in the 350 formula I race, 27th in the Junior T.T. (Silver Replica) and 22nd in the Senior (Finisher's Aivard). Last year he was 25th in the Junior TT., with a Silver RepIica, but had to retire on the last lap of the Senior. (TT Special, 12 June 1961, p.22)
