Age 25, J. W. Dakin is a refrigeration engineer from Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex. His first “International” race should have been the 125 c.c. T.T. of 1955 but he had previously had short-circuit experience, scoring “fourths” at Snetterton, Castle Coombe, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Aberdare in 1954, in 1955 he was third at both Brands Hatch and Crystal Palace. He entered an L.E.F. for the 1955 125 c.c. race but was a non-starter.
