Biography: Age 21, David Leslie Downer is a maintenance engineer from Belvedere, Kent, who has had four seasons of short circuit racing with, as he says, a number reasonable positions. He rode in the Manx for the first time last year, but his luck was dead out --he had to retire on the first lap. His machine is a 1955 Manx Norton, modified as much as possible to the latest specifications. Hobby : Photography. (TT Special, 5 September 1961, p.10)
