Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Age 38, Walter Hancock is a motor cycle fitter from Birkenhead, and his racing experience included short circuit meetings at Altcar, Ansty, Rhydymwyn and Thruxton. His first Isle of Man race was the 1951 Senior Clubman's in which he finished 36th; next year he turned to the TT, riding a Velocette in the Junior race but retiring on the third lap. He rode in the same event in 1953 and '54, but with an even worse luck, retiring on the second lap in each case. Another retirement followed in the 1955 Junior, but he beat the hoodoo at last by finishing 45th in the Senior race.

In the 1956 Junior, he retired again, but he completed the course in the Senior, finishing 40th at 78.01 mph. Last year he was 39th in the Junior (Bronze Replica), but retired in the third lap of the Senior. He is entered by Len Turner (Motorcycles) Ltd).
