Biography: Mounts: Junior—A.J.S.
Senior—A.J.S.
Age 28, Ted Havens is a motor mechanic from Duncan, British Columbia, and is one of Canada’s official representatives in this year’s T.T. races.
He began his racing career in 1952, riding a K.S.S. Velocette, and was 350 c.c. British Columbia Championship winner. Last year he changed mounts and turned out with a 500 c.c. “Featherbed” Norton, being placed third in the Unlimited c.c. Canadian Championship and second in the 500 c.c. class of the B.C. Championship.
This is his first visit to Britain, and he arrived in January. His first appearance on a racing circuit this side of the water was during April’s “Silverstone Saturday” meeting, but at the Easter Brand’s Hatch meeting he came off, damaging a leg muscle and preventing further rides until the opening of T.T. practice.
He says that his hobby is snooker—no good at it, but just likes to play it! Entered by the Canadian M.C.A., he rides a 1954 7R A.J.S. in both Junior and Senior races.
