Biography: Mount: Senior—Norton

Age 38, a motor-cycle mechanic from Bedford, Robert King has ridden many times over the T.T. course; as a Clubman in 1948, ’49 and ’50; in the 1950 Senior Manx Grand Prix, and in the International T.T. in 1951 and ’52.

On his first appearance in the Island he retired on the first lap, but the following year he rode a Matchless into 51st place of the Junior Clubman’s. In the same event in 1950 he finished 14th on a B.S.A. Riding a Norton in the Senior “Manx” three months later he was nineteenth at 75.617 m.p.h., only just outside replica time.

He was 51st in the 1951 Junior, gaining a bronze replica, and 40th in the same race the following year—another “bronze”.

At Crystal Palace last Easter Monday he was the winner of the “12 fastest” handicap.

Age 34; motor cycle mechanic, of Bedford. Has competed at Abridge, Cadwell Park, Esholt, Silverstone, etc., and has twice ridden in the Junior Clubman’s last time running out of petrol at Windy Corner. Is a regular competitor in scrambles and grass track events, but prefers road racing. Machine, B.S.A. Gold Star.
