Biography: Mounts: Junior—Norton
Senior—Norton
Age 27, Gordon Laing is yet another of the Dominions riders who are making their presence felt in European races, his home being in Melbourne, Australia.
Gordon’s racing began on Easter Monday, 1947, in a road meeting at Ballarat, and since then he has taken part in many races in his homeland, with successes which included a “dead heat” with Maurice Quincey in the 1951 South Australian T.T.
He entered for the 1952 T.T., but crashed in practice at Laurel Bank and broke a leg; this year he is determined to ride in the actual races! In Continental events this season he has been well in the picture, scoring fourth place in the 500 c.c. race at Imola, third in both 350 c.c. and 500 c.c. classes at Floreffe and second in the 500 c.c. Grand Prix de Bordeaux.
His machine for the T.T. races are a pair of Featherbed Nortons, 1954 pattern, and he is his own entrant. Hobbies: “No real hobby—but I like an occasional game of tennis”.
