Arthur Lavington

Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Mounts: Junior—Velocette
Senior—Velocette or A.J.S.

Age “37 plus”, E. A. Lavington is a motor cycle workshop foreman from Earlsfield, London. His experience of the Island course is limited to the 1949 Clubman’s T.T. series, but he has taken part in short circuit meetings at Aberdare, Brand’s Hatch, Blandford, Crystal Palace, Silverstone and elsewhere, with successes “virtually nil!”

His Junior Velocette is an interesting machine, having started life as a 1947 K.S.S. model, but through the years it has gradually been converted with “Mark VIII” spare parts, and is now fully up to Mark VIII specification.

Lavington intends to ride the same machine in the Senior race, but should anything happen to the Velo during the Junior he will turn out on a 7R A.J.S. loaned by G. Cooper.
