Arthur Newstead

Biography: Age "over 21" Arthur Newstead comes from Newark, Notts., and is an auto-electrician. He has raced at various short circuits, including Cadwell, Brough, Altcar and Kirkby Mallory, while his Island experience covers several Clubman's and Manx races. He was 20th in the 1955 Junior on his A.J.S., and 20th again in the 1956 Junior and 18th in the same event in 1957. He was 15th in the 1958 Junior on the same 1954 7R—four replicas in four races. In 1959 he was "Noble-ized" after a brake failure at Braddan on the first lap, but last year he finished 18th in the Junior Manx at 85.48 m.p.h., with a Replica. His machine for this year's Junior is a 1960 7R.

Age 28; an automobile electrician, of Newark, Notts. Has ridden once at Ansty and Cadwell Park, but is otherwise new to the game. Machine, 1949 model 18 A.J.S. fitted with Siddaway rear springing. Hobby: “More motor cycling”.
