Biography: Age 30, Alan Pavey is an advertising designer and comes from Ealing, London. This is his first appearance in the Island but during the past two seasons he has ridden at Brand's Hatch, Crystal Palace, Oulton Park, Silverstone and Snetterton and has collected first, second, third and other places.

His machine is a standard 247 cc NSU Max which has been adapted for road racing by George Ewer. The frame is of the normal type except for a 'featherbed' type sub-frame which carries the damper units. The front forks are standard except that the internal units have been removed and Girling units have been fitted externally (a la Guzzi V.8) The engine is also practically standard but the compression ratio has been raised and valve spring pressures increased; close ration gears are fitted. Alan is entered by the NSU Works MCC.
