Biography: Age 28, Derek Ray is a transport contractor's lorry driver and comes from Longsight, Manchester. He did some mud-splashing in Germany, whilst in the Army, and has ridden regularly at Aintree, Oulton Park etc. He had intended entering for last year's 'Manx' but financial setbacks prevented him from doing so. He rode in the recent Clubman's at Oulton Park, finishing 11th in his heat and just missing the final by 1.5 yards.
