Gordon Bell

Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Age 33, Gordon Bell is a plumber and comes from Ravenglass, Cumberland. He has had many successes in Scottish short circuit races and in 1958 he was first in the 500 c.c. Club Handicap at Silverstone, also winning the 350 c.c. "Clubman's" at Oulton Park.

Coming over to the Island, he won the 1958 350 c.c, Snaefell race on his Norton at 84.15 m.p.h. and in the Junior Manx Grand Prix of the following day the Snaefell races were postponed from the Saturday to the Monday, due to bad weather —he was 11th at 84.79 m.p.h., winning a replica, of course. In 1959 he was 18th in The Junior and 15th in the Senior, with two more replicas, but last year he was a non-starter in both events.

Hobby: "Playing the bagpipes." (TT Special, 5 September 1961, p.8)
