Biography: Mount: Lightweight – R.J.E.

Age 39, a motor dealer, of Llanuwchllyn, Merionethshire. Has never ridden in a trial, being interested in road racing only, and has competed in the M.G.P. from 1934 to 1948, having ridden Cotton, Excelsior, and C.T.S. machines. In the 1948 Lightweight Manx, when on a C.T.S., he was bracketed third at the end of the second lap, but then had to retire.

He turned “international” in 1949 and rode a C.T.S. in the Lightweight T.T., finishing ninth at 68.81 m.p.h., and gaining a second-class replica. Similarly mounted he was ninth again in the same event in 1950, this time at 67.21 m.p.h. and also won a second-class replica, (Non-starter).

Good morning ladies. A complicated one - the 1934 Junior MGP result of 24th on the sheet of Robin J Edwards should be in the name of Robert Alec EDWARDS (Norton) who doesn't seem to have a sheet of his own. He also raced in the 1934 Senior MGP but retired at Sulby Bridge during the race. You will see that Robin J Edwards did compete in the 1934 Lightweight MGP on a Cotton but retired during the race. It's all complicated because the Lightweight and Junior races were combined!!! Hope it makes sense. - Paul Bradford Report this
