Biography: Mount: Junior – Norton

Age 35. Comes from Woodford Bridge, Essex. Was a D.R. sergeant during the war and took part in many Army motor cycle trials.

Has had previous T.T. experience, for he won bronze replicas in both Junior and Senior races in 1938. In 1939 he finished twelfth in the Junior on a Velocette and won a first-class replica. Has also done well at Donington.

Is entered in the Junior by Reg. Dearden, of Stockport. His machine is Tommy McEwan’s 1939 Norton, with 1947 plunger forks. It was the actual model ridden in the recent North-West “200” by Ken Bills, who retired when he was leading the 350 class.

Mount: Junior – A.J.S.

Age 38, proprietor of a shop-fitting and joinery business, of Woodford Bridge, Essex, Hayden began racing in the “Manx” in 1936, when he retired in the Junior but finished in the Senior. He first rode in the T.T. in 1938, gaining second-class replicas in both Junior and Senior races on a 350 Velocette. Finished 12th in the 1939 Junior but retired in the Senior.

In 1947, in the Junior race, he came off at Quarter Bridge on the fourth lap, and the next year retired in the Junior but finished 22nd in the Senior on a Guzzi.

Last year he gained second-class replicas in both Junior and Senior, finishing 24th in the Senior and 44th in the Junior. In this race, he certainly had bad luck, for he missed a first-class replica by 4 of a second only.
