Age 30 Petty comes from Farnborough, Hants., and has, for over three years, been an assistant to Francis Beart. He has had numerous trials successes, including fourth in the Southern Experts Trial, and tenth in the same event in 1949 Petty is no newcomer to the T.T. Course for he rode in both the 1946 and 1947 Lightweight ‘Manx’ races, finishing in both – fifth in 1946 on a New Imperial, and fourth in 1947 on an E.M.C.

Turned “International” in 1948, and rode a New Imperial in the Lightweight T.T., finishing fifth at 66.26 m.p.h. The following year he rode an A.J.S. in the Junior, finishing 47th at 75.03 m.p.h., and a New Imperial in the Lightweight when he finished tenth at 68.14 m.p.h., gaining a second-class replica in each event. In 1950 he was just within second-class replica time in the Junior T.T. when he finished 58th at a speed of73.36 m.p.h. on a Norton, handicapped with a broken exhaust valve spring from the first lap.

He retired on his first lap in the Lightweight with a broken con-rod.

Hobby: Fishing.

He is entered by Francis Beart and is using the same old New Imperial in the Lightweight, but has a new Norton for the Senior.

Non-starter in Lightweight.
